Kratom

What is Kratom?

Kratom is a traditional plant medicine from southeast asia. The leaves of the Kratom tree (Mitragyna Speciosa) can be processed and consumed in a number of ways. Kratom has several active alkaloids that produce euphoric and uplifting effects. In cultures where Kratom grows natively, it has been used as a traditional medicine for hundreds of years.

What are the effects of Kratom?

Kratom has a wide range of effects. Many people report feeling euphoric and uplifted. Kratom’s pharmacology has not been fully classified, but the primary active alkaloid is mitragynine. Mitragynine acts on a variety of receptors in the brain, most notably the mu-opioid receptor (1).  This is likely responsible for kratom’s pain relieving and mood lifting effects. The effects of Kratom generally last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours. (1) Ya K, Tangamornsuksan W, Scholfield CN, Methaneethorn J, Lohitnavy M (June 2019). What do people use Kratom for?

People use kratom to support the body’s natural ability to be comfortable, and promote a sense of well being. This relief often allows people to feel more like themselves and live more fully.

How much should I take my first time?

To have the best experience, it is important to find a dose that works for you. We recommend starting with 4 to 8 tablets (they are very small for easy swallowing). Wait 30 minutes. If a stronger effect is desired take 2 more and wait 30 minutes. Continue until the target effects are reached. Please consult with your healthcare professional prior to use.

Can Kratom be used to manage pain?

Kratom is not currently approved by the FDA for any uses, but there is a lot of ongoing research into Kratom’s potential as a pain management tool.

Why all the wishy-washy language?

Why do we use vague words like “uplifting” “relief” and “support”? The FDA has strict regulation around the language that can be used when marketing herbal remedies. When describing the effects of Kratom, these are the most accurate words we are legally allowed to use.

What happens if I take too much?

Some people report nausea at higher doses, but this will generally resolve in a few hours. It's best to start off with a small dose slowly increase until you reach a desired effect.

Is Kratom addictive?

Kratom may have the potential to be habit forming for some people. While generally mild, some users report withdrawal symptoms after stopping heavy daily use. Please consult with your healthcare professional prior to use.

Is Kratom legal?

Kratom is legal in most places, though there are some states and countries that don’t currently allow it’s sale.
